Total solar eclipse on 12 August

On 12 August 2026 the Moon will fully cover the Sun — the first total solar eclipse over continental Europe since August 1999. The path of totality runs across the Arctic, Greenland and Iceland and ends in northern Spain.

By the Eclipse Almanac’s computations, totality lasts about 65 seconds in Reykjavík, about 81 in A Coruña and up to 99 in Palma. Partial phases will be visible across most of Europe.
